Another Question: Can cops use the Magic MDT thing to Scan for license plates even though there is no physical License plate on Said vehicle or any vehicles. (I need this answerted OOCLY, too many he said she said shit IC not to mention. Ricky does one thing and the Admins say another. So one definite answer would be dope.

Hello this was a decision left up to PD, we didn't want staff to make it, but just to be all on the same page I have gone over it with staff. Here is the answer: Yes, PD can use the plate reader on their cop vehicles to read a vehicle's plate whether or not it is physically there. This has to be the case because there is no other way for them to verify who owns the vehicle. You do not have physical papers in game you can hand over for proof. So if the alternative was that they couldn't read plates, then the vehicles would NOT be legal (bc there's no way to verify) & those vehicles would be outlawed entirely, which means any time a cop saw you on one they'd take you out of the vehicle and immediately impound it regardless. I'm doubting that most of you would like to see a whole section of cars and motorcycles suddenly get on PD's 'banned' list. So for the sake of you being able to drive those vehicles, PD has to be able to hold those vehicles & owners accountable when they are being cited or used in a crime. IDK what admins told you otherwise but just incase anyone is confused, that should not be the case after today. edit: also even though I answered this here, you're more than welcome to also bring it up during the CM. edit2: I also just remembered a recent IC interaction where Tally was telling Blade that despite no plate if she looked on her plate reader she should see one & I was being purposefully arbitrary IC and said "I don't know, I don't think it will". & I hope that is not the source of the confusion. That was COMPLETELY IC. Blade was just being an asshole. No one should take anything I say IC and think 'oh the dev said it ooc'. Or think that for any staff ingame. |
